Band Week – November 10

This week is lyrical exercise week! 

• Submit your technical exercise to this Google link: https://forms.gle/FSxxE3zfNJgXeP7e9 or in Schoology by direct messaging Mr. Messer.

• Continue to prepare for upcoming honors band tryouts. All scales for honor band can be found here.

Band schedule of events:

• Monday, 11/17 – Symphonic rehearsal 3:00 - 4:30 (sectional 3:00-3:30, full ensemble 3:30 - 4:30)

• Wednesday, 11/19 – Concert band practice 2:45 - 3:45 PM

• Thursday, 11/20 – Honor Band Tryouts at Baker; Davidson time slow is 3:45 so be there by 3:15

  • • Report to front lobby of Baker, they will direct you to the cafeteria for warm up

    • Mrs. Perry (Edwin's mom) will have your audition sheet in the cafeteria. 

    • Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to Baker and from Baker home.

      • • Let Dr. Beattie know if you have a ride issue getting there or getting picked up prior to Thursday. 

    • Auditions are first come first serve so get in line at 3:45 to avoid longer wait times. Hopefully, all students will be done by 6:30

    • Required: Leadership team and those planning to audition for leadership next year

    • Encouraged: Everyone else

• Friday, 11/21 – Make sure to get instrument needed if you are participating in Auburn or USA Honors Marching Band on 11/22. The band room will be closed on the weekend!

Looking Forward:

• Monday, 12/1 – Symphonic rehearsal  3:30 - 4:30

• Tuesday 12/2 - Yay Band rehearsal 2:45-3:30 Dress rehearsal for Christmas assembly (symphonic and concert bands only) 3:30 - 4:30

• Thursday 12/4 - School Christmas concert assembly (symphonic and concert bands only)

• Tuesday 12/9 - Evening Christmas concert for all bands

• Tuesday 12/16 - Christmas party during lunch waves

Student Weekly Reminders:

• Stay hydrated throughout the day.

• Bring a water source with your name on it to practices.

• Set a phone alarm for Sunday night weekly to pack your instrument for Monday.

• Practice minutes due for the contest band at the end of every month.  Minutes Submission Form 

  1. 1. 200 minutes for section members

     2. 400 minutes for section leaders

     3. Next due date Friday, November 21st. 

Parent Reminders:

• Only a few more events this year, please sign up to volunteer if you can! Thank you for all you do!

• Mr. Messer's "room" is set up in the MCPSS app. Please download the app on your device. If anyone cannot join the class they are supposed to be in, parent or student, email Mr. Messer and let him know. There are rooms for each period of band, color guard, and percussion.

• If fees are not paid, students cannot receive a uniform or attend the football game as part of the band. Pay On Cut Time Now
