Schedule
August after school practices Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays; September and October practices Monday and Tuesday, some Thursdays (see weekly schedules and announcements for changes)
Big days are football games and contests (9/26 Davidson, 10/3 Foley, 10/17 Opp)

Fees:
$250 basic band fee everyone pays, covers instruction, transportation, traditional uniform rental, sheet music, and choreography
$75 rental fee for anyone that uses a school instrument; all percussion pay this fee
$45 shoe fee if you need marching shoes; all freshmen or if you need a new pair
$25 dry fit uniform top rental -OR- $100 to purchase
Dry fit worn the first month of the season; traditional marching uniform for contests and October football games
If lost, $100 fee will apply
$250 color guard fee (in addition to $250 basic band fee); pays for uniform, color guard equipment, first year members receive a windsuit
Uniforms – Mrs. Jackson; always need volunteer help, especially those that are able to assist with loading, unloading, and moving uniform racks from one location to another as these are HEAVY when loaded

Band Supplies:
Flipbook: small music holder that is attached to marching instruments so the music is portable and hands free; should have 20+ pages for all music
Lyre: attaches to flipbook to the instrument, it is instrument specific so get the correct one
Three ring binder: student’s name should be on the outside with 20 sheet protectors for marching and sitdown music
Grow Our Band Incentives:
If you or your child recruits a band member who took a year off of band then you will get $100 off your fees
If you or your child recruits a person with no prior band instruction it will be $50 off your fees.

Students will earn 40% profit, which will be applied toward their band fees. This helps promote local businesses and raise funds for the band.
Payments (cash or check) can be put in the lock-box on Dr. Beattie's office door or be mailed to the school.
The deadline for the football program advertisements is July 30, 2026.

Weekly Practice
Once school begins, there is band practice in August EVERY MONDAY, TUESDAY & THURSDAY after school until 5:30 p.m.
In September & October, we practice EVERY MONDAY & TUESDAY after school until 5:30 p.m.
Please leave Thursdays open from September to October as we may call after-school rehearsals in preparation for contests (or if we are rained out on Tuesday). Section leaders may also schedule sectional rehearsals on Thursdays.
Jobs
Students who work are reminded that JOBS MAY NOT INTERFERE WITH BAND REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES. Dental, medical, and other appointments should be scheduled at times other than scheduled band rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday until 5:30 p.m. (and some Thursdays as announced). Unexcused absence from Tuesday afternoon rehearsal means you will not be allowed to attend the next football game. Excused absences from Tuesday afternoon rehearsal means you can attend the game, but you will not be able to march during halftime.
Band is a Year-Long Course
Students are required to participate in band both semesters. The only exceptions are an academic conflict for a course needed for graduation or participation on a Davidson athletic team. Students dropping out after the Fall semester for any other reason may not be eligible to participate the following year. Color guard members who play instruments must also perform in the Spring semester to be eligible to stay in band/color guard.
As a member of the Davidson High School Band, you are expected to march in two Mardi Gras parades (usually the Polka Dots and Stripers), unless you have a religious objection to Mardi Gras.
