Invitational Game

COME PLAY WITH THE DAVIDSON BAND!!!

All 8th and 9th-grade students who are interested in Davidson High School are invited to attend a football game and play with the band. Any students who are not instrumentalists but are interested in the Colorguard are also invited.

Register your 8th or 9th grade student here now. 

Schedule for Invitational Week:

• Fri, August 28th: Please complete the online registration form by this date to help us plan. Students MUST be registered to participate.

• Tues, September 1st  3:30-5PM: Practice for 8th/9th grade students is from 3:30-5:00 PM (or as soon as students can get here) on the Davidson band field. Bring your instrument and any paperwork to practice. There will be a short meeting for parents at 4:30 PM to answer any questions.

• Friday, September 4th 4:30 PM: Meet us in the Davidson High School Cafeteria 

The Davidson Warriors will take on Baker on Friday, Sept. 4th at Davidson High School Stadium. Please park in the Davidson H.S. Stadium parking lot at 4:30 PM and check-in inside the cafeteria with a DHS Band parent chaperone. Pre-game music will begin at 6:40 PM, and kick-off is at 7:00 PM. Bring your instrument. You will receive music to play along with the band during the game. Percussionists only need to bring sticks. Tuba, Baritone, and French Horn players only need to bring their mouthpiece.

The Davidson Band Boosters will provide chaperones for the evening. Middle schoolers’ parents are welcome to attend the game with us if they wish. 8th/9th  grade students will get into the game for free with the band, but parents need to purchase a ticket here: GoFan: Davidson vs Baker 9/4/26.

Students should wear their middle school band shirt. If they do not have a middle school band shirt, they should wear their school uniform shirt and shorts. The only way to let us know you are participating is to sign up at the link provided on the next page.

Please plan on picking up your 8th/9th grader after halftime at the Davidson High School Stadium. Halftime is usually over by 8:30 PM. Guardians will have to check out middle school students with a DHS Band parent chaperone.

We will have packets of music printed for everyone to play along with the band. A lot of this music will be challenging for middle school musicians, but everyone can participate! If you search on YouTube for this exact phrase “davidson high school stand tunes,” you should find the playlist of songs that we play at the games. This is very helpful for practicing at home. For the pre-game show, we will focus on these particular stand tunes:

• Big Ballin

• Word up

• War Chant (from War Chant/Chop/Superman)

• Talkin’ Out the Side of Your Neck

• Fight Song (Washington and Lee Swing)

• Seminole Uprising

Approximate Schedule for Friday, Sept 4th:

4:30 Check-in for 8th/9th grade students at the cafeteria.

5:00 Eat pizza & sodas and socialize with the DHS Band Section Leaders.

5:30 Get instruments out of cases - Look over music with DHS students helping 8th/9th graders.

6:35 Walk onto the field and play our stand tunes together (Davidson & 8th/9th grade students).

6:50 Play the National Anthem (Davidson students only).

6:55 Play the Fight Song for the DHS football team to take the field.

7:00 Kick-off and 1st Quarter begins.

7:45 The Davidson Band will leave the stands during the end of the 2nd Quarter to get ready for our halftime show. This time is approximate. The Baker Band will play their halftime show first, and then DHS will perform. Middle school students will sit in the stands with DHS Band chaperones to watch both halftime shows. After halftime, the 8th/9th grade students and their parent/guardian should check out with the same DHS Band parent that they checked in with. You are free to leave, or you can stay and play with us until the end of the game!
